To renew your Pennsylvania professional engineer license each engineer requires 24 PDHs per biennium. Pennsylvanica permits up to 12 PDHs earned in excess of the 24 to be carried forward to the next biennium.
Pennsylvania does not approve courses but has the authority to approve providers of continuing education and reserves the right of approval of all PE continuing education activity.
Pennsyvlvania specifically lists the following criteria for continuing education acceptance:
Continuing professional competency obtained by a licensee should maintain, improve or expand skills and knowledge obtained prior to initial licensure, including law and ethics applicable to the profession, or develop new and relevant skills and knowledge. No credit shall be given for a course in practice building or office management.
Licensed professional engineers must retain all PE continuing education records; however, no mention of an audit to ensure compliance is mentioned. The following is a link to the rules of the Board relative to continuing education.
