This new professional engineer license renewal continuing education pdh course addresses Engineering issues ranging from initial involvement in exploration to production optimization challenges. It is considered a primary course before specialized training programs. By attending this PE PDH course, professional engineers will understand the fundamental concepts involved in geothermal engineering activities.
Upon successful completion of this course, the profesional engineer will complete required PDH continuing education and will:
- Skill in Basic Geothermal Engineering which covers characteristics of geothermal reservoirs, the differences between oil and gas reservoirs, the properties of steam, water and vapor-water mixtures at various pressures and temperatures,
- Know the origin of geothermal energy.
- Appreciate the interdisciplinary nature and scope of geothermal engineering.
- Understand describe how geological processes control how the way rocks store and flow steam, and can quantify rock physical properties using industry-standard methods.
- Understand the fundamental concepts of production, surface facilities engineering and design.
- Know the unconventional geothermal energy i.e. Conversion oil well to geothermal well.
- Be aware of the economics of exploration / development of geothermal fields.
- Understand field exploration and development activities, well-testing methods, and steam and electricity production facilities.
- Understand the fundamental processes to calculate volumetric reserves methods and electric potential, apply thermodynamic concepts to determine flow in wells, in pipelines and to determine electric power.
- Knowledge of Operations and Optimization
