North Dakota Professional Engineers must meet the following requirements to renewal thier PE license before December 31, 2024.
- Complete 30 PDHs: Within two years, you must earn 30 Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
- Meet the content requirements: At least 20 PDHs must be technical courses that improve your skills and knowledge in your field of practice. The remaining 10 PDHs can be in professional management or ethics courses.
- Renew by December 31: All engineering licenses must be renewed every two years on December 31.
- Submit certificates of completion: After earning PDHs, you must submit certificates of completion.
- Keep records: You must keep records for at least four years.
- Register for renewal: You must register for renewal every two years.
- Carry over credits: You can carry over up to 15 PDH credits into the next renewal cycle.
- Use online courses: There is no limit to the number of PDHs you can earn through online continuing education.
The North Dakota State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors (NDPELS) regulates the profession of engineering and continuing education requirements in North Dakota. The board does not pre-approve course providers or courses.
