New Continuing Education Requirements for Florida Professional Engineers

Florida PEs must now have 18 hours (no longer 8) of continuing education in specific categories

Florida Professional Engineers must now have 18 hours (no longer 8) of continuing education in these categories:

• 1 hour (no longer 4) approved Florida Law and Rules course
• 1 hour (new requirement) approved course on ethics
• 4 hours on the licensee’s Area of Practice subjects
• 12 hours on topics pertinent to the practice of engineering (new
  requirement)

If conducting engineering in design of works or systems covered by the Florida Building Code, a course designated as “advanced” by the Florida Building Commission and approved by the FBPE must be completed within one year of the effective date of the Florida Building Code (in this case, by July 1, 2019).
