Beginning January 2023, Professional Engineer license expiration dates will be changing to coincide with the original date of PE licensure. This means PE license may be valid for an additional 1 to 12 months depending on actual Professional Engineer licensing date. The extended PE license period is for the first renewal on the MiPlus system only. No additional PE PDH continuing education is required for the additional time added to the license period and all professional engineer continuing education must be completed before your PE license expiration date. Please contact the Michigan Professional Engineer board if you are unsure of your renewal date.
Effective March 2022, the board has added a requirement that 2 PDH in each renewal period must cover the subject of engineering ethics.
PE PDH Courses must have a clear purpose and objective that will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s area of practice. The Board’s Administrative rules (R 339.16041) allow “online continuing education hours” that meet certain criteria. All PDHNow PE PDH courses fall under the following activity codes:
(a) Completing a continuing education program or activity related to professional engineering that is approved or offered for continuing education credit by any of the following: Another state’s board of engineers.
